A Letter from our Pastor 2.1.2022 - St Matthew R.C. Church

Recently, I experienced a ‘fair’ day. Not fair as in the day being okay or so-so, but as in festival: rides, food, events, contests, etc. My husband, four grandchildren, and I went to the Wisconsin Valley Fair at Marathon Park in Wausau. It was better than a ‘fair’ day. It was fantastic! We ate a bit of fair food (yes, cheese curds were definitely included). Went on a few rides. Walked through the animal barns and took in all the sights, sounds, and yes, smells of chickens, bunnies, pigs, cows, sheep, goats, and even some pigeons and quail. What a variety to behold! It takes a lot of commitment with many long hours to care for their animals with such excellence.

We also looked through the many exhibits that were lined up for viewing and judging. Beautiful flowers and plants; vegetables, some of which were so enormous I couldn’t believe that it was only the beginning of August; fairy gardens of various designs; photos, artwork, and much, much more. Such diversity and vision. It was fun to imagine the exhibitor working on their entry and the satisfaction of having an entry to be proud of.

It reminds me of how precious and unique each and every person is. Each person created in the image of God with talents and interests to enrich their lives and to share with the world. It is why there is so much variety in our world. For example, look at music. Country, gospel, blue grass, rock, hip hop, rap, heavy metal, jazz, big band, ska, classical, r & b – something for everyone. Probably some style of music that is yet to be born. Amazing!

You are precious! You are amazing! A child of the living God. Loved. Designed. Gifted. Needed. You help to make the world a more interesting place. We have been created to share our lives with one another. Created to love and help each other become the people God has designed for us to be.

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10

I thank God for the beautiful creation that is YOU!
